As far as NEWS is concerned, Hersheypark's STORM RUNNER is a winner! It's a fast hydraulic launch coaster with a 150-ft tall top hat, a 180-foot vertical drop, a cobra roll, barrel roll and a diving loop! It's sensational!
Rye Playland is getting another new roller coaster this season! Tentatively scheduled to open in July, the coaster is the Volare model made by Zamperla (a similar coaster operates at Denver's Elitch Gardens).
Clementon Amusement park will soon debut TSUNAMI - a large S&S Pood coaster which is being advertised to feature the steepest verticle drop on any wooden coaster in the northeast! The coaster should open either late in June or sometime in July. For updates, please visit: www.ClementonPark.com
We've already got something exciting to look forward to in 2005! Dorney Park will debut "HYDRA - THE REVENGE." Rumored to be a B&M floorless coaster, Hydra will rise on the site formerly occupied by Hercules.
Superman - Ride of Steel has re-opened at Six Flags New England. Currently, one train is running while the park and Intamin modify the second train in the aftermath of the deadly incident earlier this season. Reportedly, exceptionaly large guests may no longer be able to ride Superman. New restraints are also apearing on Superman at both Six Flags Darien Lake, Six Flags America and on Millennium Force at Cedar Point. Have a great and safe coaster season!
